IDEATION: Oil Bottle Family

IDEATION: Oil Bottle Family

The concept:

We developed an easy-to-pour family of oil bottles without sacrificing visual appeal.

Why we love it:

  • Funneled neck for easy pouring
  • 45-degree angled handle attribute
  • Notched pouring ledge on the bottom of the package
  • Flush handle and closure for strength in packout
  • Each package can accommodate a company logo embossment

Combining all of the above features, this family of oil bottles is ready to be brought to the market. Reach out to your Packaging Consultant for more information on this packaging concept.

Pocket Sprayer

IDEATION: 20 mL Pocket Sprayer

The concept:

A standard fingertip sprayer leaves a bit to be desired when it comes to shelf presence and ergonomics. In this ideation exercise, the Studio explored new forms and ways for users to interact with pocket sprayers.

Why we love it:

  • Fresh approach to a common package
  • "Personal scale" ergonomics improves user experience
  • Soft corners with a mix of contrasting textures gives an upscale look and feel
  • Four-piece assemblies can be easily color-coded for SKU differentiation
  • Locking mechanism prevents accidental spray
  • Perfectly-sized for pocket or purse

At Studio One Eleven, we believe Anything is Possible and are ready and willing to bring new ideas to market. Contact us today to learn more.

IDEATION: Wipes

IDEATION: Wipes Containers

The concepts:

We decided to explore the styling of bi-fold wipes dispensers, we aimed to maintain a high degree of functionality while creating a unique aesthetic.

Why we love them:

  • High-style with improved functionality
  • Designed for one-handed use
  • "New to the category" form languages
  • Easily customized with ready-made color and branding areas

While these are just a series of rapid visualizations, we're ready to engage in a discussion to bring these (or other) new ideas to market. Do you play in a category we should explore? Reach out to your Packaging Consultant today and let's talk!

IDEATION: Bucket Insert

IDEATION: Clean-up Caddy

The concepts:

Born out of our user ethnography experiences in the jan-san and household cleaning categories, the Studio proactively explored ways to address multiple aspects of the clean-up process with a single device.

Container: A large HDPE bucket with a hinged lid for easy product dispensing (oil, dry, or other absorbing material).

Attachment: Integrated storage and supply of implements and consumables.

Why we love them:

  • These solutions simplify user interaction at each clean-up step: Filling, transporting, and storing
  • Several concepts are suitable for use with stock injection molded container

Studio One Eleven helps thrill consumers by understanding why, when, how, and where they use our clients' products. We use that understanding to build better experiences. Let's talk today about thrilling your consumers!

IDEATION: The Shower Caddy

IDEATION: The Shower Caddy

The concept:

In this problem-solving exercise, the Studio explored ways to reduce the waste and labor associated with hospitality packaging via a semi-permanent dispensing system.

Container: The HDPE bottle features an inverted anti-back-off, twist-to-open valved closure

Attachment System: A wall-mounted plate with a locking ring and a key

Why we love it:

  • Allows facilities managers to refill or replace consumables every few weeks rather than after every night/guest, reducing waste, labor and storage requirements typical with amenities packaging
  • Anti-back-off closure and locking attachment system prevent pilferage and tampering by guests while allowing housekeeping staff to easily replace containers using a provided key
  • Sleek, modern bottle design aesthetic which is easily customized to the shape equities of the brands contained
  • Modular color-coded and decorable lock covers allow for quick and easy updates to product/brand communication
  • Soft mating surfaces on bottle and bracket allow for 360-degree bottle articulation
  • Patent pending

At Studio One Eleven, we believe Anything is Possible and are ready and willing to bring new ideas to market. Contact us today to learn more.

Ideation, Product, Audio

IDEATION: The Sprenade

IDEATION: The Sprenade

The Story:

In response to a call from Crewest Studio, Studio One Eleven engaged in a freeform exploration to "Paint the Future" with revolutionary spray paint systems for street artists. The Studio met with internationally renowned artist Man One to learn more about street art ethos and culture, and to understand the features and functions that street artists look for in their spray media. We developed a broad range of concepts, including the "Sprenade" system.

Why we love it:

  • Accommodates street artists' individual positioning preferences via 360-degree spray capability
  • Ergonomically-friendly shape makes Sprenade easy to hold and actuate
  • Dispersion pattern and width are customized via interchangeable actuators
  • Soft-touch, poly overshell not only adds comfort for the artist, but also adds thermal insulation to maintain media viscosity over the course of a painting session

What happened:

Our work on the project, including the "Sprenade" concept, headlined a month-long gallery exhibit in Los Angeles. "Canceptual V4" was attended by hundreds of gallery-goers and covered by media ranging from Packaging Design Magazine to Trueculture.

While street art is a niche market, we believe that our research into artists' needs and desires are applicable to DIYers as well. Whether creating a street mural or restoring a vintage lamp, all users want a comfortable grip and better product control.

While Sprenade is a sketch concept, at Studio One Eleven we believe Anything is Possible and are ready to bring fresh thinking to sluggish product categories.

PODCAST: How Berlin Packaging Returned Over $250 Million of EBITDA Back To Their Customers

PODCAST: How Berlin Packaging Returned Over $250 Million of EBITDA Back To Their Customers

Our CEO, Andrew Berlin, often reminds people that "Anyone who has taken a shower has had a good idea." The point is to take those ideas and act to build something innovative and valuable.

Berlin Packaging has built a unique model of creating value (e.g., millions of EBITDA generated for customers), delivering value, (e.g., 99% on-time delivery for 11 years and counting), and capturing value (e.g., growing multiple times faster than the packaging industry overall).

This podcast is about the passion to make a significant contribution to customer bottom lines. That passion was a catalyst over the years to evolve the Berlin Packaging business model beyond breaking bulk, into a Hybrid Packaging Supplier® model.

In this 30 minute podcast Dirk Beveridge, Founder of UnleashWD, speaks with Berlin Packaging leaders, Andrew Berlin, Chairman and CEO, and Jeremy Lagomarsino, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Strategy, and together they discuss:

  • The challenge with being viewed as the middleman.
  • What you call yourself when you do more than break bulk.
  • Why being technologically agnostic allows Berlin Packaging to create and deliver value in innovative ways.
  • Why value added services are outdated.
  • How the Berlin Packaging eco-system of services creates stickiness.
  • How Berlin Packaging quantifies how much more EBITDA customers make as a consequence of doing business with them.
  • How Berlin's culture of celebrating entrepreneurship leads to their ability of helping emerging business grow into something great.
  • How Berlin's business model takes the platitude out of win-win to demonstrably create a win-win relationship with interests that are totally aligned.
  • Why Berlin Packaging wrote a white paper titled "Don’t do business with brokers and distributors."
