Devil’s Grin Gin
The Devil is in the Details
Devil’s Grin prides itself on being delightfully deceiving. Their gin is handcrafted in small batches using 14 botanicals sourced from the Lone Star state and beyond. Each botanical is added sequentially using a timed processed that takes several days, resulting in a unique taste profile that is devilishly delicious!
When the brand wanted a one-of-a-kind packaging solution that aligned with their spirit of deceptive delight, they partnered with Studio One Eleven to produce a beautiful bottle and secondary package. The Studio team brought the client’s vision to life, preparing their complex concept for production. The custom eight-sided glass bottle distinguishes this spirit from those sold in standard round or rectangular structures. The octagonal bottle is embossed on six sides with imagery depicting the various botanicals used to make the gin, a detail that required optimization to make it manufacturable. Our team created volumetrically accurate CAD drawings while considering the best molding to achieve the challenging, highly detailed embossments.
Custom Secondary Packaging
The unique secondary packaging was inspired by the brand’s tagline, “Delightfully Deceiving.” What at first appears to be a simple carton opens to reveal a series of carefully crafted, delightful surprises. As the box unfolds, the inner compartment that houses the bottle rises effortlessly, as if presenting the gin to the consumer. This thoughtful mechanism is a nod to the brand’s identity and the mesquite tree, also known as the “devil with roots,” evoking the mystique of uncovering hidden depths. The package also includes a series of special, unexpected details, such as elegant blind embossing and a tactile, weathered texture on the sleeve that invites touch and exploration.
